Prismarium Pavilion
by Javier F. Contreras and Ignacio Hornillos

When in 1929 René Magritte presented the work Ceci n'est pas une pipe, he essentially revealed, apart from a fascination with the seduction of images, the role of art as an intermediary between the world and the observer.

Aware that interferences may arise in the representation of things, he articulated a manifesto as evident as it was provocative: images of things are not things themselves, but rather representations, and as such they do not need to respect the same rules.

In many respects, contemporary information is a painting of Magritte. PRISMARIUM, proposal for the Information Pavilion of the Concentrico Festival, is a crystallography of prisms that organise the space of the square and establish an iconic relationship with the changing images of its perimeter, activated at every moment by visitors and neighbours.

The pavilion combines periscope and camera obscura projection mechanisms that mix images of Logroño in real time with static information on activities, tours and programs of the festival.

In this way, a landscape of illusions is generated, a pavilion whose information is inhabited in its perimeter from different oculi and articulated points of view that transform the context of the square.

Each of the arms of the pavilion is oriented towards the different enclaves proposed by the festival. Exhibitions, tours and collective geographies of Logroño are mixed with reflections and projections of the square, thus creating an interactive element that is inserted into the city while allowing its collective appropriation.
